MICROECONOMICS (MCD2020)

Purpose

This unit is designed to explain and analyse economic institutions, decisions and performance and to evaluate economic policy decisions.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1. Identify and analyse the nature of economics and the role of economic systems.
2. Analyse the nature of demand and supply for a product or service.
3. Identify and analyse the nature of production.
4. Analyse the outcome of price and output in different market structures.
5. Evaluate the role of government economic policy and its impact on resource allocation.

Assessment

Essays, tests and other assignments: 30%

Examination: 70%
