Purpose
This unit is designed to develop an understanding of the human mind and to enable students to apply skills to a range of behavioural and cognitive issues..

Learning outcomes
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
- Be familiar with the stages of development in human transition over
the life span.
- Be aware of various theoretical perspectives which have been developed
in order to understand human development, personality, abnormal behaviour
and social behaviour.
- Be able to appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of these perspectives
and to be aware of the political and social influences on their development.
- Understand some of the relationships between these perspectives and
various approaches to the treatment of behaviour disorders derived from
them.
