The Faculty of Business and Economics has raised the entry level for students completing the Monash College Diploma of Business and transferring into second year of their chosen degree in the faculty. This change will come into effect from the beginning of 2008 and will apply for all students commencing the Diploma of Business in February 2008 and in subsequent trimesters.

There is no change for current students already studying in Part 1 or Part 2 of the Diploma of Business. Students currently studying at any Australian campus of Monash College, or undertaking Monash College programs through our partners in Guangzhou, Jakarta, Singapore, or Sri Lanka will still progress on the basis of previous Faculty entry requirements. See table below for entry scores.

The new entry standards reflect the increased competition for places and the strong standing of Monash University and the Faculty of Business and Economics in the global community. The quality of the program and the calibre of its graduates enhance the reputation of the degrees, particularly among future employers. This has obvious benefits for students entering via the Monash College pathway diploma program.

Monash College prides itself on the quality of its teaching and learning and support services. Our Learning Advisors, the extensive learning support program and the calibre of individual teachers, who happily support students both in and outside of classes, adds to the quality of the learning experience. Monash College is committed to providing you with the skills necessary to enhance your self confidence and help you achieve academic success.

Calculating your Unit Average for the Diploma of Business

It is important that you understand how your Unit Average is calculated. To assist you in monitoring your progress we are developing an Average Calculator (coming soon to this website), so you can keep track of how you are going. In the interim, you can manually undertake the calculations as follows:

For students starting with us in the Diploma of Business before October 2007 the average is calculated by:

Adding the marks of the eight passed unit
Subtracting 5 points for each failed unit

Passed Unit marks total - (5 x number of failed units) = TOTAL Marks received

Dividing the total by 8 for your Unit Average

  TOTAL Marks received / 8 = Unit Average (%)

For students starting in the Diploma of Business in or since October (2007) trimester the average is calculated by:

Adding the marks for all units studied (including fails)
Subtracting the mark for the 'lowest fail'

Unit marks total - lowest failure mark = TOTAL

Dividing by the number of units studied

  TOTAL / number of units studied - 1 = Unit Average (%)
