Course information
- The Foundation Year program spans approximately 10 months over two semesters.
- A standard study load offers a minimum of 720 hours total structured learning time.
- Students complete a minimum of four subjects (eight units). English is a compulsory subject in all Foundation Year programs.
Electives
Elective subjects differ between locations and intakes. Students should select their electives based on their preferred Monash University degree. Visit Monash University's Course Finder for degree specific information.

Classes
- Teaching methods include classes and supplementary support tutorials
- Foundation Year class sizes are small to enable individual attention
- Classes may consist of individual work and group work
- All subjects are supported by references texts and/or software packages
Assessment
- Student progress is carefully monitored with regular feedback throughout the year
- Assessment includes a mixture of course work, tests and examinations and final assessment
- All examinations are set and moderated by Monash academics and ratified by the Monash University Foundation Year Board of Studies, which is chaired by a Monash University Dean.
