Gulliver's Travels

3rd September - 28th September
Curator Stuart Koop

An exhibition that explores the return by many Australian artists to the construction of dioramas, architectural models, toys, maquettes and tableaux. The model illustrates a futurity, a conditional, in short, an 'if'. So what if everything were made of cardboard? What if everything doubled its size overnight? What if one kind of building or animal were fused with another kind? If time went backward? If dead things came to life? Like Alice, Willy Wonka or Gulliver before them, these artists visit some strange places in their minds which ultimately take shape in their work. Artists include: Callum Morton, Craige Andrae, Matt Calvert, Richard Giblett, Louise Paramor, Tim Silver and Ricky Swallow.

Organised in collaboration with Contemporary Art Organisations (Australia). A CAST touring exhibition.
