Copy failures (copy section to a new section)

Symptoms

Can't successfully copy a section to a new section. (Also sometimes termed 'rolling over'.)

Severity

Medium

A copy failure means you can't create a new section using content from another section. There are several possible causes for this, see the check list in the 'Workaround' section below for details.

User Roles Affected

  • Unit Leader
  • School/Department administrator
  • Faculty Administrator

Resolution

The vendor is aware of the above issues related to copy failures.

Workaround

Use the following check list to determine what the problem may be:

  • presence of Group Sign Up sheets - see copying sections with Group Sign-Up sheets  known issue for work around
  • presence of links to files located in other sections, or links from other sections to files in the section being copied - see copying sections that have shared files  known issue for work around)
  • presence of two demo students in the section - contact MUSO Support
  • special characters - remove or replace any special characters
  • presence of a form html tag in the assignment instruction text - remove tag
  • many subfolders for the same folder (over 4) - reduce the number of folders
  • section contains large Media files - download files to local storage, remove the file from the section, upload file to the new section after you have completed the copy
  • an Image tag is included in the header - remove tag
  • section contains Customized icons - reset default icons
  • destination section already has content assigned - remove the content.
