Description

Monash has made demonstrable improvements in gender equity, but there is significant opportunity for further progress, particularly in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) fields, where representation of women in senior roles remains critically low.

That’s why Monash joined the Science in Australia Gender Equality (SAGE) pilot of the Athena SWAN Charter. Through our membership in this pilot, we expect to accelerate the progress towards improving the participation of women in STEMM and to further promote an inclusive workplace culture for people irrespective of their gender, cultural background, ethnicity or religion.

This event is designed to explore the key gaps and opportunities for improving gender equality in STEMM disciplines. You can find out more about the Athena SWAN program, the key learnings we’ve found so far through our work in the pilot, and how you can provide input on gender equity initiatives in STEMM as we enter the consultation stage of this project.

Guest speaker: Dr Saraid Billiards, Head of Strategy and Engagement Unit at Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE).
