Dietary assessment study

Published: 1 August 2007

Male volunteers are required to participate in a study validating food frequency questionnaires (FFQ). The FFQs are aimed at determining the glycaemic index of the diet as well as measuring intake of poorly absorbed carbohydrates which may be responsible for symptoms in irritable bowel syndrome.

The validation process involves completing the FFQs and comparing the responses to 4 x 1-week food diaries completed over a 12 month period, i.e. you will complete a FFQ and 1 week food diary, return them in the reply paid envelope, in 3 months will be sent the next one, and so on for 12 months. All correspondence is done by post.

We have recruited a sufficient number of females, so we are now only recruiting male subjects. All volunteers will receive a formal assessment of their diet at the completion of the study.

Please contact me at jacqueline.barrett@med.monash.edu.au if you would like to participate.
