What is Orientation?
Introduction to the university, a specific campus and the start of transition.
Identification with a specific campus, course, units of study and university staff.
Familiarisation with the physical environment of the university.
Appreciation of the expectations the university has of students.
Orientation marks the beginning of semester for new students. It's designed to help you settle into university and fully prepare you for the start of classes. Take the opportunity to find out about the different teaching and learning processes of the university, familiarise yourself with your new surroundings, pick up details about your course and get to know your lecturers, tutors and other new students
Also, take the time to find out about the social aspects of university life - join a club, attend a Student Association bbq, party or day out and chat to other new students who will also be trying to settle into uni life.
This initial experience will be an important aspect of the partnership you will form with the university, and will help you feel as though you really belong. Orientation is the official start of the university year, so it's be sure to come along.
