2017 parking permits

2017 parking permits for all campuses will become available for purchase in February 2017. Exact dates for purchase will be provided closer to the date.

2016 permits remain valid until 26 February 2017. You can still purchase some 2016 permits here.

Prices for 2017 permits are provided below. As in previous years, permits will be issued on a first in, first served basis and waiting lists may apply.

Blue permits and carpooling are the only options for students. They're also the cheapest choices for staff, but you have other options as well. Staff members can also offset the cost of a permit through salary packaging. Contractor permits can be purchased by contractors and business tenants.

Visit our maps page to see how to get to any of our campuses or download a campus map here. If you're considering buying a permit for Clayton campus, please check the 2017 Clayton parking and access map.

2017 blue permits

Staff and students are able to purchase a blue permit. Students may also choose to purchase a half-year blue permit for half the price of the annual permit. With a blue permit, you can park in any blue area on your home campus.

2017 cross-campus permits

For courses taught on more than one campus, you can get a cross-campus permit to park in blue permit areas where you study. You'll need to first buy a blue permit, which you then take to Monash Connect to swap for a cross-campus permit.

Check our list of eligible cross-campus courses (PDF, 0.07 MB) to make sure you can exchange a blue for a cross-campus permit.

If you can't find your course on the list, use your Monash email address (the only email address we can accept for security and anti-spam reasons) to email us your name, student number and course subject codes. Send your email to crosscampuspermits@monash.edu.

Once we confirm your course is cross-campus, we'll send you an approval email to print out and take to Monash Connect with your blue permit.

2017 Monash Rideshare carpool permits

Rideshare offers members low-cost parking in exchange for travelling to campus with at least one other registered carpooler. See the Monash Rideshare webpage for more information.

In 2016 we introduced a permit fee to deter misuse of the program and help genuine ride sharers find available parking. This carpool permit will continue in 2017 at an annual cost of $76. We have more than 600 carpool spaces across our Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton and Peninsula campuses, with carpooling representing  the  best  value  for  money  parking  at  Monash.

Students are also able to purchase half-year carpool permits at a reduced rate.

Free motorcycle and disability parking

Motorcyclists don't need a permit to park in a motorcycle area.

If you display a disability permit, available from local councils under the state-wide VicRoads scheme, you can park for free in a disability area.

Permit conditions

Permits allow you to park in specific areas on your home campus and aren't always valid on other campuses or in the same areas, so note any restrictions. Download the Monash University parking rules (PDF, 0.14 MB).

Our refunds, replacements and resales page also explains other important permit conditions.

Parking fines

READ THE SIGN – AVOID THE FINE
All our campuses are subject to Victorian traffic laws (Road Safety Act and Victorian Road Rules) and the Monash University Parking Rules, so please obey the  road  rules  and  signs.  To  avoid  a  parking fine:

  • obey the signs where you park
  • check the time limits on metered spaces
  • display your parking ticket or permit clearly
  • only park in a permit zone that matches your permit type
  • only park motorcycles in motorcycle zones
  • don't park in spaces for the disabled without a disability permit.
  • don't copy, modify or falsify a parking ticket or permit
  • don’t park in loading zones unless you are entitled to do so, and then only for the prescribed period of time
  • if you drive to campus in different vehicles, put your permit in a clear plastic cover for switching between vehicles – you can get permit pouches from Monash Connect.

If you get a fine, you can't pay it on campus – read the back of your notice for payment options.
