Centre for Medicine Use and Safety (CMUS)
Keeping patients safe
Proper medication management is the essential ingredient in every patient's treatment plan.
We are focused on delivering innovative research which optimises the health outcomes for individuals and communities in Australia and around the world.
We deliver high-quality and timely research by combining key components of our expertise with existing multidisciplinary collaborators. This ensures the context and application of our results are relevant to health in the real world. Our ultimate goal is to optimise the safe and effective use of medicine.
We have expertise in the areas of:
- health services (development and evaluation)
- pharmacometrics (pre-clinical, clinical, phase I- IV+)
- pharmacotherapy (hospital, aged care and community)
- pharmacoepidemiology and public health.
Integrated research for better practice
Based at our Parkville campus and the pharmacy department of The Alfred hospital, CMUS integrates academic and applied research to address medicine use and safety issues in the home, community, hospitals, residential aged-care facilities and their interfaces.
