Conduct and Compliance - Gender Equity

The Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Act (1999) has been renamed the Workplace Gender Equality Act (2012) and the associated Agency is now named the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).

All non-public sector employees with 100 or more employees are required to report annually under the Workplace Gender Equality Act.

Under the new Act, there are requirements relating to notification and access. Monash University must:

  • Inform its employees that it has lodged its report with the Agency and advise how the report may be accessed;
  • Provide access to the report to employees;
  • Inform employee organisations with members in its workplace that the report has been lodged;
  • Inform its employees and those employee organisations with members in the workplace of the opportunity to comment on the report to the employer or the Agency.
