Portal personalisation

Each user's my.monash portal is personalised according to attributes from the Monash directory (LDAP), against which we authenticate during login. Personalised access means that the portal reflects the roles and responsibilities of the user, giving them access to information relevant to them.

Standard attributes on which information is profiled includes, but is not limited to:

  • nature of the user's role within the university
  • user's faculty affiliation
  • user's campus location.

The my.monash target audience

The primary audience groups for my.monash are:

  • academic staff
  • general staff
  • undergraduate students
  • postgraduate students.

Each of these groups can be further divided based on the following attributes:

  • nature of academic employment (teaching, research or combination)
  • nature of general employment (administration, management, technical, trades)
  • campus location
  • mode of enrolment (distance education/on campus)
  • student type (domestic or international)
  • nature of degree (coursework or research).

Take the my.monash tour

The my.monash staff tour and student tour provide an overview of information and services that are available in my.monash. Here's a snapshot of what my.monash provides for staff and students:

  • Staff can access email, employment related information and forms, Calendar and learning and teaching resources.
  • Students can access email, view and change enrolment details, access Monash University Studies Online (MUSO) and other online course materials, view their booklists and order books online, search library catalogues and journals, and view their academic history.
  • All users can access community, and recreational information such as the Monash Marketplace, global discussion groups, event promotions and short courses.
