1. The degree The degree of Master of Nursing (MNurs) may be awarded in one grade only.
'candidate' means a candidate for the degree; 'course of study' means the course of study for the degree determined by or under these regulations; 'degree' means the degree of Master of Nursing; 'faculty board' means the faculty board of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences; 'faculty information handout' means a faculty handbook or such other publication whether in bound, loose leaf or electronic form concerning the course of study as the faculty board determines from time to time.
3.1.1 have qualified for the degree of Bachelor of Nursing of the university or have qualifications and experience which in the opinion of the faculty board are equivalent or a satisfactory substitute; 3.1.2 be currently registered in division 1 with the Nurses Board of Victoria or hold qualifications which in the opinion of the faculty board are equivalent to that required for such registration; 3.1.3 have had two years professional nursing experience, unless the faculty board in any particular case otherwise determines; and 3.1.4 to the satisfaction of the faculty board, have the necessary ability to pursue the course of study. 3.2 Where the faculty board is not satisfied for the purposes of paragraph 3.1.4, the board may specify particular work which, if satisfactorily completed by the applicant, will satisfy the board for the purposes of that paragraph.
4.1.1 a major thesis; 4.1.2 a minor thesis and subjects; 4.1.3 a project and subjects; or 4.1.4 subjects only - as determined by the faculty board for each particular candidate at the time of admission to candidature. 4.2 The faculty board, with the consent of the Academic Board, may from time to time determine the thesis, project and subject requirements of the course of study and in relation to these may determine any matter or thing, including but not limited to - 4.2.1 number, timing, duration and content; 4.2.2 attendance and participation; 4.2.3 assessment; 4.2.4 satisfactory completion; and 4.2.5 in relation to a thesis - 4.2.5.1 research and supervision; and 4.2.5.2 publication and confidentiality. 4.3 The faculty board must cause each determination made under this section to be published in a faculty information handout.
5.1.1 by full-time or part-time candidature; and 5.1.2 on campus or by distance education, or in part on campus and in part by distance education.
8.2 Where the faculty board considers that a candidate has, since first enrolling for the degree, been unreasonably adversely affected by any change in the regulations or course of study requirements, the faculty board must permit the candidate to qualify for the degree under the regulations or course of study requirements in force or published at some time during candidature, provided the faculty board is satisfied that the work so required to be completed is equivalent in standard to that currently required to complete the course of study. |
