Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences regulations



Graduate Diploma in Immunology


1. There shall be a Graduate Diploma in Immunology (GradDip Imm).

2. In these regulations:

'the board' means the faculty board of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences;

'the head' means the head of the Department of Pathology and Immunology;

'the diploma' means the Graduate Diploma in Immunology.

3. An applicant for admission to candidature shall apply in writing to the registrar.

4. An applicant for admission to candidature for the diploma shall:

4.1
be a graduate of this university or of some other university or institution recognised for the purpose by the Academic Board or have, in the opinion of the board acting on the advice of the head an equivalent qualification save that the board, in circumstances it considers special and on conditions it considers appropriate, may admit an applicant who is not otherwise qualified for admission; and

4.2
supply evidence of knowledge which, in the opinion of the head, constitutes an appropriate background for the course.

5. The course for the diploma shall be completed in not less than one academic year by full-time candidates, and in not less than two academic years by part-time candidates. The candidate shall complete such courses of study as are prescribed from time to time by the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences on the recommendation of the head.

6. The examinations for the diploma shall be held in such manner as the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences may from time to time determine on the advice of the head.

7. A candidate shall comply with these regulations as from time to time amended or remade provided that where the faculty board is of the opinion that any candidate for the diploma has been adversely affected by a change in these regulations since the candidate first enrolled as a candidate for the diploma, the faculty board may act to remove the adverse effects on the candidate by permitting him or her to qualify for the diploma under these regulations as if they were in force without the particular change or changes which adversely affected the candidate.

* The course is designed for graduates in medicine, dentistry, 
  veterinary science, engineering, or other professional fields.
** The board may, on the advice of the head, limit the number 
   of students admitted if the number of applicants for the course in 
   any year is greater than the number for which there are teaching 
   facilities and accommodation available.
