Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences regulations



Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health


1. There shall be a Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health (GradDipOccEnvH) which shall be awarded in one grade only.

2. In these regulations:

' faculty board' means the faculty board of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences;

'the head' means the head of the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine; and

'the diploma' means the Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health.

3. An applicant for admission to candidature shall apply in writing to the registrar.

4. An applicant for admission to candidature for the diploma shall:

4.1
be a graduate with or qualified for the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in this university not less than two years previously; or

4.2
have qualifications which, in the opinion of the faculty board, are equivalent to or are a satisfactory substitute for the qualifications prescribed in subsection 4.1 above.

5. Except where the faculty board permits otherwise, the course of study for the diploma shall be completed in not less than one academic year by full-time candidates, and in not less than two academic years by part-time candidates.

6. A candidate shall complete such courses of study as are prescribed from time to time by the faculty board on the recommendation of the head.

7. The faculty board, on the recommendation of the head, may credit a candidate with a subject on the basis of satisfactory completion of a similar subject within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

8. The examinations for the diploma shall be held in such manner as the faculty board may from time to time determine on the advice of the head.

9. A candidate shall comply with these regulations in force from time to time and the relevant requirements concerning a course of study in relation to the faculty, provided that where the faculty board considers that the candidate has, since being admitted to candidature for a diploma, been unreasonably adversely affected by any amendment to or substitution of these regulations, the faculty board may permit the candidate to qualify for the diploma if, in the opinion of the board, the candidate has completed work equivalent to that required to complete the course of study currently undertaken by the candidate.
