Green Steps (University course)

Green Steps bridges the gap between knowledge acquired at university and skills required in the ‘real world’ of professional work in the environment and sustainability sectors.

Delivered in partnership with the Greenhouse Challenge Plus program (Commonwealth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts), Green Steps has an alumni of over 400 people and has engaged in sustainability projects with over 200 different organisations throughout Australia.

A group of students at Monash University developed Green Steps to translate their theoretical understanding of sustainability issues into action. Tired of being lectured to by ‘experts’, they established the Green Steps program to provide a hands-on, practical approach to learning.

Green Steps is offered to students through host universities in the Australian capital cities of Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth.

Green Steps @ Work course is available for people not at university.

Green Steps is free to successful applicants. Places are limited and the application process is highly competitive.

Green Steps has proven to be a valuable platform for people embarking on an environmental career. The majority of past Green Steppers have gone on to work in the environment sector, many of them pursuing innovative projects helping to affect change within organisations and communities.
