Industry Placements
Work placements provide an opportunity for Program participants to further hone their environmental skills on "live" issues in a workplace. At the same time, students help host organisations improve their environmental performance.
Placements take place during the university holidays closest to the final training session. The standard format is two days per week for six weeks, however a certain degree of flexibility is available.
Host organisations pay the host university's insurance and administrative costs, and provide a (taxable) stipend to the participating student. For the duration of the placement, the students are university employees, acting as consultants to the host organisation. Placements are often extended beyond the initial six weeks under a commercial agreement between the university and the host organisation.
