MSI Seminar Series 2010"Perspectives on 'The Politics of Climate Change'"- Ray Ison, Bob Birrell & Alan Petersen
Date: Wednesday 24th March, 2010 No RSVPs necessary. Light refreshments will be provided. Printable flyer (pdf, 121 kB) AbstractThis seminar presents three perspectives of Anthony Giddens' 2009 book ‘The Politics of Climate Change'. Giddens argues that climate change isn't, politically, at the forefront of political action or people's minds and that it needs to be systematically incorporated into policies. Giddens also contends that, as the problem of energy security will result in many of the same actions required to deal with climate change, there is an opportunity for concerted action on both issues. The three speakers will engage critically with Giddens' arguments and explore the implications for future action. Pre-reading of the book is welcome but not required!
