The Code of Practice

• The Code of Practice stipulates that the review and approval of all research involving exposure of humans to ionizing radiation is the responsibility of Human Research Ethics Committees.
• The Code articulates the Responsibilities of the Researchers.
• The requires that if the project involves radiation doses which exceed the constraints listed in Table 1 (Code of Practice: Exposure of Humans to Ionizing Radiation for Research Purposes) and where there is no direct benefit to the participant the project be sent to DHS for review.
• In order for the HREC to consider the project researchers need to complete and submit the Radiation Module with Form 1.
