Note:
Applicants who have applied for and received waivers for existing NHMRC grants, must again seek a waiver for the Mental Health application round.

Exception:
A CIA who is a NZ citizen is not required to seek a waiver if they are based in Australia for the duration of the grant.

Overview:

NHMRC wishes to call upon the expertise of the mental health research community in the area of child and youth mental health - an area of international significance to develop a stronger evidence-based approach to preventing the development of mental ill health.  This Targeted Call for Research (TCR) will provide $13 million of funding for the best researchers to build evidence and translate evidence to improved metal health practice.  Applications for this TCR in mental health is now open.

Applying for NHMRC funding:

Applications must be submitted via RGMS (Research Grants Management System)

  • Applications must be submitted via RGMS
  • Minimum Data Required by 8 Feb 2012:
    • Part A Home (specifically the Administering Institution, and Application Title)
    • A-RT Research Team and Commitment
    • A-A2 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research
  • A complete TCR application consists of:
    • Part A and B of the application form
    • The relevant information in your RGMS Profile and CV
    • The uploaded PDF document containing your Detailed Background and Research Plan, including Track Record for each CI.
    • If applicable, uploaded PDF document relating to Career Disruption.

Consent to be a Chief Investigator (see 5.4 of the Funding Policy):

 The Chief Investigator A must seek agreement from other CIs (B-J) to be named on the application. The CIA will provide written evidence (e.g. an email) to the RAO of all CIs endorsement of the application. The RAO will then certify and submit the application in RGMS.  The RAO will not be authorised to submit the application to NHMRC until all Chief Investigators have completed this step.
