Why did you decide to study Science?

I’ve always enjoyed questioning the world around me and became more interested in science during high school.

What made you choose Monash University in particular?

The majors on offer, and my parents both studied here, along with some other family members.

What is your favourite aspect of studying science?

The lab work.

What do you plan to do when you graduate?

No idea.

If you were talking to a VCE student who wanted to study science but wasn’t sure which uni to pick, what would you tell them about Monash?

I would give them my opinions on the experiences I’ve had, but I would also highly recommend that they explore all their options and not focus on just one university when making their choices.

What has been the highlight of your science degree so far?

Dissecting a cane toad.

Do you have a favourite class/teacher/subject? What is it about this class/teacher/subject that you love?

My favourite class is DEV2011 (Early human development from cells to tissues), because the content and labs are really interesting.

What was the biggest misconception you had about studying science before you started your course?

That scientists are stuck up and secretive about their work; most are extremely friendly and passionate when you show an interest in what they do.

Are you involved in any extra-curricular activities? What have you gained from these activities?

I was a Front of House volunteer at the Melbourne Museum for almost two years, where I learnt to engage with the public, and volunteered with their Marine Invertebrate department, where I learnt important science skills. I have since gained a job with the same museum.

Anything else you would like to share about your Monash Science experience?

I transferred to Monash from another university because Monash had so much more options in their Bachelor of Science course

Why did you become a Monash Science Ambassador?

To spread the word that science is awesome!

A piece of advice I live by/Lifehack:   If you are kind to everyone you meet you’ll get more out of life.

I’m currently listening to/watching….: The show “Helix” on Netflix.
