Events for international graduate research students
Orientation seminars
If you're a new research student, make sure to join our Graduate Research Student Orientation Seminar – that way you'll get all the information you need to kickstart your journey at Monash.
These sessions will give you a good idea of what life is like in Melbourne, and at Monash. You'll find out about:
- Monash support services (e.g. Monash Graduate Association, medical and counselling services, Career Connect and off-campus accommodation advisory services)
- study support (e.g. Student Academic Success) and English language programs (e.g. English Connect)
- your visa conditions and study entitlements
- your work rights and entitlements
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
- life in Melbourne (e.g. transport, employment and exploring your local area)
- networking opportunities with current and former research students.
Each session includes a light catered lunch, and you'll get the chance to chat with a former research student and learn about their PhD journey at Monash.
If you have any questions, contact the International Student Engagement team on iss@monash.edu.
Settling in at Monash
We encourage you to watch our Orientation videos if you're unable to attend our face-to-face information sessions. They'll help you settle in at Monash and prepare for life in Melbourne.
