Sun, swim and splash at the beach

Enjoy a day of fun and games at the beach, while making new friends. Learn how to stay safer in and around the water with the Life Saving Victoria team.

Try a range of body boards and flotation devices. Activities will be held on Edithvale Beach in shallow water and lifeguards will be present from Edithvale Life Saving Club.

Getting there

You can make your own way to Edithvale Beach or meet at the Caulfield or Clayton campuses to travel by bus.

Buses will depart at 10am and will go via the Frankston Waterfront where you will see the sand sculptures exhibit. Buses will return to campuses at approximately 5pm.

Students making their own way to Edithvale Beach are advised to arrive by 12pm. Edithvale station is on the Frankston line and is located 150m from Edithvale Life Saving Club. Walking directions from Edithvale station.

Who can attend

This trip is open to all international students starting in semester one 2017.

Cost

The cost of $30 includes beach activities, lunch, transport from Clayton or Caulfield campuses and entry into the sand sculpture exhibit on the Frankston Waterfront.

What to bring

You'll need a change of clothes whether you plan to swim or not, as other water activities will mean your clothes get wet. Swimwear is encouraged for swimming, but we're not overly strict on what you wear many people are more comfortable in t-shirt and shorts. Women can still wear headwear if preferred.

To ensure you're comfortable throughout the day, here's what you should bring:

  • clothes for swimming/water activities (eg. bathers)
  • towel
  • sunscreen
  • hat
  • drinking water
  • bag for your wet clothes
  • warm clothing/long-sleeved shirt in case of cool weather
  • flat, sensible shoes and sandals/flip flops.
