Related to a coursework degree

Coursework degree complaints involve four main steps.

  1. Try to resolve the complaint with the staff member concerned
  2. If you can't resolve it or you believe the staff member is biased, speak to the unit leader or chief examiner
  3. If you still can't resolve the complaint, lodge a formal complaint with your faculty grievance officer
    • Academic matters are investigated by the Associate Dean or their nominee
    • Administrative matters are investigated by the faculty manager or their nominee
  4. If you're still not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the University Student Ombudsman.

Related to a graduate research degree

Graduate research degree complaints involve four main steps.

  1. Try to resolve the complaint with the staff member concerned
  2. If you still can't resolve the complaint lodge a formal grievance with Monash Graduate Education (formerly MIGR) by emailing the grievance officer at graduate-education@monash.edu
  3. If you're still not satisfied, and your grievance is about the research component of your higher degree, you can ask the University Student Ombudsman for a review.
