Why study Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery?

As the shortage of trained doctors willing to work in rural and remote areas gains increasing attention, Monash continues to be part of the solution.

More than a decade ago Monash became the first university to establish a centre for rural health.

In 2008 it opened a $10 million purpose-built facility at Gippsland campus to accommodate this new graduate entry degree, dedicated to attracting, training and retaining rural and regional doctors.

This degree is open only to applicants who have completed or are in the final year of a bachelors degree at a recognised university.

Applications to this course must be submitted via GEMSAS.

NOTE: There will be changes to 2015/2016 entry requirements for this course whereby only students with undergraduate degrees with significant biomedical science content will be eligible for entry. There will also be further changes for 2017 entry with only Monash specified degrees being able to be used for entry. Information about relevant degrees and these changes can be found at online.
