In 2007, almost 1,400 Malaysian students were studying at Monash University in Australia. Monash Sunway campus, Kuala LumpurIn 1998, the Malaysian government invited Monash University to be the first foreign university to open a campus in Malaysia. Today, the Monash Sunway campus in Kuala Lumpur has a thriving student population of more than 3,100. Located in the self-contained township of Bandar Sunway, the new campus in Malaysia opened in 2007 and is a joint-venture between Monash University and the Sunway Group, through its Sunway Education Trust Fund.
