Health care fees

Commencing students from 2008

  • It is an Australian Government visa regulation for international students studying on a student visa to have compulsory Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their stay in Australia.
  • Monash University requires all commencing international students to purchase visa length cover at the time of accepting their offer.
  • The electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) for student visa application will not be issued until:
    • The OSHC payment has been received (along with payment of fee deposit), or
    • Proof has been submitted that visa length OSHC has been purchased with an approved Australian OSHC provider of your choice, or
    • Approved documentation has been submitted for exemption from payment of OSHC.

Continuing students from 2007

  • If you have commenced at Monash before 2007 you are required to personally renew your OSHC each year before the card expires.
  • If you are studying on a student visa and do not have valid health cover, you will be in breach of the visa regulations and required to pay the full cost of any medical treatment that may be required.
  • If you do not renew your OSHC, Monash University is not responsible for your treatment.

  • Ease of payment (one-off upfront payment to the University before the commencement of your course)
  • Upfront payment avoids any annual premium increases

  • Monash will offer you an additional discount if you purchase visa length OSHC cover via Monash University with OSHC Worldcare
  • You will be covered until the completion of your course plus an extra four weeks
  • You may remain covered (with holiday credits and/or an extra nominal payment) if you wish to remain for graduation or a short holiday
  • Coverage includes students with packaged offers in Monash College, Monash University Foundation Year and Monash University English Language Centre
