But Melbourne is also the gateway to the magnificent sights and tastes of regional Victoria.

The Mornington Peninsula is only an hour's drive out of Melbourne but you could be mistaken for thinking your in Europe where rolling hills of vineyards sit side by side with magnificent resorts.

One of the world's most scenic drives is the Great Ocean Road with breathtaking views of the Victorian coastline culminating in the famous 12 Apostles rising out of the sea.

For those with a sense of adventure, a balloon ride over the gorgeous Yarra Valley, again only a short drive from the heart of Melbourne.
