Changing your accommodation and welfare arrangements
This information applies if you want to change the accommodation and welfare arrangements already approved by Monash.
Visa condition
- Visa condition 8532 requires students (other than AusAID students) under 18 years old to maintain their accommodation, support and welfare arrangements as provided at time of visa grant.
- If a student wishes to change their arrangements they must seek prior approval from their education provider.
Monash requirements
- Students who are considering changing their accommodation or welfare arrangements must discuss the proposed change with Monash (see Approval authority below).
- Arrangements cannot be approved until all the necessary documentation has been provided. The 'How to change your arrangements' section below provides information on the documentation you need.
- Students who would like to change from Monash-approved arrangements (using a Monash-approved care-giver service or living with a non-relative or cousin) to living with a parent, custodian or eligible relative must obtain permission from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship by completing the Student Welfare Declaration Form (pdf, 3 pages) .
- Only arrangements that are 'Acceptable Accommodation and Welfare Arrangements' will be approved.
How to change your arrangements
- Select your preferred arrangement and follow the steps outlined in the checklist provided:
- If your requested change is approved, Monash will issue the Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) arrangements form which must be included in your application for a student visa.
