Rural student services

Entry schemes

  • Special Admissions Scheme
    Monash University recognises that rural or isolated students can be under-represented in tertiary education, or have difficulty in gaining access to university studies. The Monash University Special Admissions Scheme allows granting of extra consideration for course entry to applicants who meet the scheme's selection criteria and who are citizens or permanent residents of Australia.
  • Indigenous student entry
    Indigenous students are offered additional culturally-sensitive support and are encouraged to apply via the Indigenous Australian students website.
  • Pharmacy rural entry scheme
    The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences encourages students from rural and remote areas of Australia to apply for the pharmacy rural entry scheme. The scheme is available to students applying for the Bachelor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy/Commerce.

Scholarships

  • Accommodation scholarship
    Coursework scholarships are offered for study in a Monash University award course, or for study in specific faculties or courses. Rural students are eligible to apply for a housing bursary.
  • Indigenous student scholarships
    Indigenous students can apply for a range of scholarships, from univesity wide Indigenous scholarships to Faculty specific scholarships and bursaries.
  • Rural pharmacy scholarship scheme
    The Rural and Remote Pharmacy Workforce Development Program offers scholarships to provide financial support to encourage and enable students from rural and remote communities to undertake undergraduate or graduate studies in pharmacy at University.

Transition to university

  • Enhancement Studies Program
    As a rural student you may wish to consider the Enhancement Studies Program, which enables high-achieving secondary students to study a first-year university sequence as part of their Year 12 program. One of the many benefits of the program for rural students is the chance to get a taste of university life whilst meeting other like-minded students.
  • Monash Transition Program
    The Program supports all students, undergraduate and postgraduate, adjust successfully to university life and study.
  • Rural pharmacy student support
    The Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences offers support and encouragment to rural students considering studying pharmacy. The WILDFIRE program which supports rural health students has an active social calendar which students are encouraged to join.
  • Sports clubs
    With over 45 sports clubs offered, Monash Sport is a great way to meet new friends, try a new sport and become invovled in the Monash community.
  • Student associations
    The Monash University student associations offer another great way to make new friends through the network of clubs, societies and associations.
