2003

A tile mural honouring those affected by the shooting tragedy is unveiled on the one-year anniversary. The idea of Arts/Law student Katherine Ryan, two hundred tiles, hand painted by Monash staff and students, can be seen on the wall of Building 67, overlooking Sir Robert Blackwood Hall.

‘The mural is a symbol of the love felt for those lost, and a colourful gesture to remember and celebrate their lives,’ Ms Ryan said at the unveiling. As well as honouring the victims, the mural was designed ‘to celebrate the strength and courage of the Monash community.’ The tiles form a bright circle, symbolising the importance of each person to the completeness of the community.
