Peter Singer arrives
By the time he was appointed director of Monash’s new Centre for Human Bioethics, Peter Singer already had a reputation for being controversial. He earned his first degrees at the University of Melbourne, studying law, history and philosophy. He won a scholarship to the University of Oxford for his postgraduate work. Singer’s work has achieved national and international attention and recognition. In 2012 he was made a Companion of the Order of Australia. In 1999 he left Monash for an appointment at Princeton University in the United States.
