The Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (MADA) is founded
The Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (MADA) is founded. Included within the Faculty of Arts when Monash and Chisholm first merged, it was always intended that it eventually stand alone.
Professor John Redmond was appointed Foundation Dean as a continuation of his leadership of the College. Professor Redmond moulded his new Faculty on the principle that the fine arts should fit within the academic culture of the university, whilst also maintaining its independence and uniqueness. The Faculty combined the strengths of traditional artistic training with the rigours of university life.
