Why use the Monash University Timetable System (MUTTS)?

MUTTS shows when all units are timetabled.

MUTTS can help you choose units to:

  • avoid clashes
  • plan your class times around other constraints eg work.

We release the MUTTS timetable:

  • in early October
  • to coincide with re-enrolment.

Allocate+ opens 6 weeks before semester for continuing students to enter preferences.

Finding out about clashes

Clashes can occur between units from different faculties or year levels.
We don't notify you of timetable changes, so it's up to you to keep checking.

If you have constraints (eg work, failed units), you should check MUTTS:

  • before enrolling in units
  • after enrolling and before entering activity preferences in Allocate+.

See how to use MUTTS

When to use Allocate+

Allocate+ opens on specific dates to enable most students to enter preferred unit activity times.

After closing, it then sorts student preferences to give most students a workable timetable.

Entering preferences early or late will not override the sort fairness.

After the sort, you can swap into any available time slot. These adjustments are on a first-come basis. As time slots fill, it gets harder to find alternatives.

Using the different Allocate+ modes

During preference entry mode:

  • enter, check or change preferences
  • choose your preferences by considering:
    • the popularity % of activities just before the sort
    • Monash timetable changes in MUTTS.

After the sort, in allocation adjustment mode:

  • check all your activities have allocated times
  • change your allocations if required.

During read only mode:

  • use Allocate+ to find out when and where activities are run.

If you don't enter preferences, we allocate you to available time slots.

Different faculties and student options

Some faculties cannot allow much timetable flexibility. Some create your timetable for you.

See Allocate+ special cases

Use of MUTTS is optional.

First-year students may not have timetable constraints. They may only need to use Allocate+ in a limited way.
