Getting to know .... Mandy Lake

What is your role at Monash?

I am the Chaplain for Peninsula Campus. I’m here for all students and staff on campus, to come and have a chat how about things are going at university, and to support you in any way that I can!

At Monash, our Chaplains are multi-faith, so we are here for people of all faiths or no faith – everyone is welcome – and we are here to talk about any issues affecting you in your life, whether those are spiritual, religious, or personal matters.

Did you want to do this sort of work when you were small?

No!  When I was small I really wanted to be an air hostess because they seemed so glamorous and got to travel a lot, or to be an author because I loved reading and writing!

What do you consider to be the most enjoyable and fun part of your job?

I love talking with people! I find it endlessly interesting and fascinating to listen to a whole range of people's unique stories and experiences.

In three words, how would you describe the students at Peninsula campus?

Hard-working, resilient, inspiring!

What is your favourite place in the world and why?

My favourite place at the moment is wherever my gorgeous little 8 month old grandson is! He is amazingly cute, and I am very lucky to be able to look after him one day a week and spend lots of time with him.

What do you love most about Peninsula campus?

Peninsula campus not only beautiful physical surroundings, but beautiful staff and students. I love the smaller nature of the campus, where we can get to know each other a little more, and I feel a real sense of a community  working together and supporting each other in a really positive way.

On campus, Mandy is located in Building AP (just behind Building G) and can be contacted via mobile on 0438 715029 (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 9am - 4.30pm) or via email
