Arts Peer Mentoring
We want our students to have the best start to university life. From the moment first-year undergraduate students arrive on-campus, our peer mentoring programs connect them with peer mentors who will guide them through the first semester.
Mentees receive support in their transition to university life. They start university in a fun and supportive environment, building connections with their mentors, peers and faculty community, while learning tips about how to succeed and enjoy themselves in their first year.
Mentors are students in their second-year or above. They guide new students through their first year, sharing their knowledge and insights into the Monash experience. Mentors have the opportunity to attend professional development events, network with other student mentors, and develop crucial employability skills for their future career.
Peer mentoring is run in small groups, with one-on-one mentoring available to eligible students.
Share your knowledge about life at Monash while gaining important employability skills, and the opportunities to participate in career development events. You'll also be able to network with other like-minded student leaders in the program and make a positive impact on others.
We have mentoring opportunities for you at different stages of your student journey. You could be a peer mentor to new students, or a senior mentor to support other peer mentors. Peer mentoring is run in small groups, but you can opt in to provide one-on-one mentoring by completing the DSS 1:1 mentoring section in your application.

Mentor testimonials
"Even the smallest impact can make a difference to someone else's life. This motivates me to continue mentoring new first-year students, share my experience and perspectives while I hear about their life stories. I've also grown as a mentor, learnt how to work more independently, expanded my networks, and developed my teamwork skills."
