The Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability
The Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability unites researchers who are interested in the business, economic and social problems affecting the developing world and the environment and sustainability more broadly. The Centre’s research expertise includes growth, poverty and inequality, agricultural development, political economy and governance.
In 2020 they initiated a series of major and rapid research and policy activities to address the global and local issues arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. This included launching a number of research projects to monitor, document and analyse how the rapidly evolving pandemic was affecting economies and communities, and to generate new policy ideas for coping with the immediate and emerging challenges.
