Outcome 11: Support services and reporting pathways, including specialist external services, are actively promoted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff

The University has conducted a review of orientation programming for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and has embedded the promotion of internal and external support services for students who may experience sexual assault, sexual harassment or other forms of concerning behaviour. This action was collaboratively completed by Respectful Communities, Safer Community Unit and the William Cooper Institute.

An Indigenous staff 'town hall' will be held (timing to be advised) to gather insights into experiences at Monash and inform future practices and initiatives, including those relating to response services.

Training offerings for response staff to help support cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and students engaging with support services have been researched. Consultation with the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) for input and endorsement is underway ahead of implementation in late 2023.
