Accommodation Fee Regulations: Briggs and Jackomos Halls

16 December 2020 to 16 December 2021

  1. Accommodation rates for Briggs Hall and Jackomos Hall will be $302.75 per week for a single occupancy self-contained studio apartment. The weekly rental of $302.75 is inclusive of all the services and facilities as listed under Briggs Hall and Jackomos Hall and will be charged on a monthly invoice at a daily rate of $43.25 ($302.75 per week).
  2. All single occupancy self-contained studio apartments in both Briggs Hall and Jackomos Hall will be offered for rent under a fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreement in accordance with the provisions of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997.
  3. Standard fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreements will commence on Thursday 21st January 2021 [commencement date], subject to the tenant making payment in accordance with item 8 below;
  4. Subject to approval, tenants can seek to have their fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreement commence prior to Thursday 21st January 2021 and in this situation, tenants will be charged rental from the date of the commencement of their fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreement.
  5. Tenants on a fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreement commencing on Thursday 21st January 2021 will be charged rent for their studio apartment from 21st January 2021 irrespective of the date on which they move into the studio apartment.
  6. Tenants on a fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreement who do not occupy their studio apartment are responsible for the rental payment for their studio apartment for the whole period of their fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreement or until such time as a suitable replacement is found (whichever comes first).
  7. Standard fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreements will end on Thursday, 16th December 2021 (termination date);
  8. Tenants are required to pay fourteen days rent in advance, within 3 business days of receiving an invoice from the Landlord. Until this payment has been received, the Residential Tenancy Agreement will not commence and the tenant will not be eligible to enter into occupation of the studio apartment. This amount will be credited towards the first month's rental invoice.
  9. Rental invoices will be issued in the first week of each month and are payable in full by the end of that month for the entire month. Example: Invoices for accommodation in March will be issued to residents at the beginning of March and must be paid by the end of March.
  10. Subject to the provisions of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997, tenants who vacate their studio apartment before the end of their fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreement are responsible for the rental payment for their studio apartment for the whole period of their fixed term Residential Tenancy Agreement or until such time as a suitable replacement is found (whichever comes first).
  11. Tenants are to make themselves aware of the developments that are taking place in and around the campus.
