Can I apply for both Residential Village and Urban Community?
You can only have one application at a time. However, you will have the opportunity to list your preferences when you apply and if you are not successful in receiving your first choice, your application will be transferred for consideration to your next preference.
Before you commence your application, we encourage you to choose your campus, your preferred style of accommodation (either Halls of Residence, Shared Apartments or Studios) and check out the different features of each hall which will help you in making an informed decision. It is also important to review the Admissions Policy We encourage you to apply for your preferred residence as early as possible.

I am under the age of 18 at the time of completing my application, do I need to provide any other documentation?
Not at the time of application, however if you are successful in receiving an offer of accommodation, and you are still under the age of 18 years you will be sent an 'Accommodation for under 18-year-old residents at a Monash Residential Services complex' form which your parents/guardian and you will be required to complete.
While most of our accommodation facilities are mixed, there is an option for single-gender areas/floors/clusters within a hall.
In all residences, everyone has their own private lockable bedroom. If it is important for you to live in a gender specific area/floor/cluster, Monash Residential Services may be able to assist you. You could choose the Shared Apartments options in Clayton such as the South East Flats or the Shared Apartments at Peninsula Village. Make sure that in the 'additional preferences/requests' section of the application form you state your requirement for a single gender apartment.
At Clayton you also have the option of picking Howitt Hall where one floor is dedicated to 'Female ONLY' or Deakin Hall where the ground floor rooms are in clusters that are gender specific; again make sure you advise us of this in your application form. Alternatively, you can contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org and your application will be updated to reflect your preference.
If it is important for you to have a room with an en-suite, you should consider applying for a Studio apartment. You should consider the difference in the cost of each of these options as rates do vary.
In the Halls of Residence, there are a very limited number of en-suite rooms. These rooms are only offered at a later date once we have addressed the requirements of all our current residents, so we cannot be sure that your request will be fulfilled.
I want to be close to my friend, how do I put this in the application?
We understand that it can be daunting when you leave home for uni and that your friends can be a great support to you. That's why at Monash Residential Services, we have an option in our application process that allows you to write your friends name as someone you would like to live close to. When applying, make sure to list your friends details in the section ''Friends Preferences''. Once received, we will do our best to assign you and your friend a room close to each other.
At Monash Residential Services on campus accommodation, only the Studio Apartments at Clayton and Peninsula Campus offer an opportunity for current residents to choose their own room. For successful applicants at these halls, you will be invited to select your room via an email, and you will have 7 days to complete this process. In the final round of offers where there is limited availability of studio apartments, the Admissions Office will pre-select a studio apartment for you.
At the Residential Village (Clayton) and Shared Apartments (Clayton and Peninsula), the rooms are assigned by the College Heads prior to arrival and they will take into account your preferences. As outlined in our Admissions Policy, and stated in our Mission Goals, Monash Residential Services will endeavour to ensure that each residence maintains a vibrant, positive and diverse community of residents.
Whilst Monash Residential Services will do all in their power to ensure that your first preference is met, we are bound by availability and cannot assure you that your first preference will be met.
