Ms Theresa Chan

After graduating from Monash University with Bachelor of Economics (Hons) in 1987, Theresa pursued her interest in tax and started her career as a tax professional with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Hong Kong.

Following the merger of Arthur Andersen & Co. with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 2002, Theresa was promoted to be a Partner in the same year.

Theresa is now a Partner of the Global Mobility Services in the South China region based in Hong Kong. Being passionate about staff development, she is also the People Partner for her group.

Overall, Theresa helps organisations improve their talent mobility programmes to ensure risk and compliance is managed in a cost effective way.

She specialises in mobility planning including immigration issues and Hong Kong and US tax matters for assignees working in the region.

In addition to overseeing the delivery of regular individual tax compliance services to multinational clients, Theresa also provides advice on compensation structuring, stock based compensation planning and regional tax planning for cross border employees.

Theresa is a Certified Tax Adviser and a fellow member of CPA Australia, he Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Taxation Institute of Hong Kong. She was the President of CPA Australia Greater China Division in 2010.

Currently she serves as the Deputy Chair of the Taxation Committee for CPA Australia Greater China Division.

Apart from professional duties, Theresa is involved in a number of charitable organisations. She is a Council Member of the Hong Kong Bone Marrow Foundation.

Theresa is also a member of Hong Kong Global Leaders’ Network Advisory Committee of Monash University. She was the President of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Harbour.

On the personal side, Theresa is married with three children. She enjoys hiking and practising yoga in her spare time. She has also developed an interest in the Diversity and Inclusion agenda.
