Mr Kevin Casey APM
Kevin was appointed to lead the People Development Command in August 2013.
He has more than 42 years’ service with Victoria Police, achieved detective status early in his career, and has gained extensive leadership experience across a number of demanding inner-metropolitan operational roles.
Kevin has had significant influence in shaping the strategic and frontline police service delivery across road policing, ethical standards, training and community programs. He’s received several police commendations for exemplary service.
He has several postgraduate qualifications, including a Master of Education (Policy, Leadership and Change) from Monash. He was awarded an Australian Police Medal (APM) in the Australia Day 2015 Honours. He was recognised as a Monash Faculty of Education distinguished alumnus in 2017. He’s also an alumnus of the Leadership Victoria Williamson Community Leadership Program, and is chair of a number of national police training and professionalisation committees.
As Assistant Commissioner for People Development, Kevin is responsible for the training, professional and leadership development of police, protective service officers, police custody officers and specialists. This takes place at several locations, including the iconic Victoria Police Academy in Glen Waverley, the Airlie Leadership Centre in South Yarra, and various operational safety tactics and driver training venues across the state.
Since his appointment, the academy has inducted the largest contingent of recruits in Victoria Police’s 166-year history.
