Ann Maree Keenan
Adjunct Associate Professor Ann Maree Keenan is a registered nurse with post graduate qualifications and clinical experience across a range of specialties including renal nursing and infection control. She has an extensive background in professional leadership and health service operations including over 12 years as a health service executive. Ann Maree has experience in health service capital programs and has led the development and implementation of new models of care.
In 2016 Ann Maree was appointed the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer Victoria at Safer Care Victoria. Ann Maree is passionate about nursing and midwifery and the absolute critical role that nurses, and midwives have in providing quality, safe and compassionate care.
As the Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer Ann Maree provides expert advice to the CEO, Department of Health, and Minister on quality and safety matters. Along with the Chief Allied Health, Chief Medical and Chief Paramedic Officers she is the key contact point to escalate professional quality and safety matters and provide professional leadership to the sector.
Ann Maree is a Fellow of the Williamsons Community Leadership program and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In 2020 Ann Maree was named in the Victorian Institute of Public Administration Australia top 50 public sector women as recognition of her leadership, inspiration, and contribution to the public service.
Ann Maree is currently the Acting CEO at Safer Care Victoria, serves on two not for profit boards and is a sometimes runner.
