Studying in another country can be a challenging and exciting time, but to some the experience can be daunting. Monash University understands that making new students welcome is an important part of university life. We want all our students, on all our campuses overseas and here in Melbourne, to feel supported and secure.
The Monash Homestay Accommodation Service (HAS) is looking for families to provide short term accommodation for international students studying at the Monash University, city and Clayton campuses.
Each year, HAS places more than 2,000 international students with local families who help students settle into Melbourne. Host families provide students with a bedroom, local insights about their area (public transport, cafes, galleries etc.) and generally make adjusting to new surroundings a little less daunting.
In turn, hosts enjoy sharing what they love most about Melbourne, gain insight into a new culture, and an opportunity to make a real difference to a student’s everyday life.
We rely strongly on our host families to provide this service, especially in 2016 when we are expecting a record number of students.
If you live near a Monash University campus, are close to public transport and are able to accommodate an international student, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We are looking for lodgings near the Monash City campus at 222 Bourke Street, Melbourne as well as the Monash Clayton campus, corner Wellington Road and Princes Highway, Clayton.
Your support will enhance the student’s experience and contribute towards their academic achievement at Monash University.
