Monash University students visit UPI for annual exchange
On 26 November, Dr Jemma Purdey led 19 undergraduate and masters students on the annual Australia and Asia Study Tour to Indonesia where they are being hosted by the Australian Studies Centre at the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI).
Prof Dasim Budimansyah, Deputy Director of the Australian Studies Centre said ongoing cooperation is important for building relations.
“This annual event is very important for our two universities and two countries for building understanding and improving relations into the future,” said Prof Budimansyah.
In preparation for the two-week overseas experience, students undertook 5 days of learning at the Caulfield campus prior to departure. While in Bandung – the capital city of Indonesia’s largest province by population, West Java – students are undertaking intensive Indonesian language classes, as well as experiencing the local history and culture.
Arts Study Tours allow students to fast track their degree and study 6 or 12 credit points intensively over the Summer or Winter holidays. Arts Study Tours run for 2 – 4 weeks and there are units offered all around the world. Applications for the Winter Programs open in January 2018 and include destinations in Asia, Europe and America.
