About the project
The Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre in partnership with Women’s Legal Service Victoria are leading a collaborative research project investigating the experience of vulnerable mothers pursuing reunification with their children in the Victorian child protection system. This research involves a statewide study drawing on interviews with affected mothers and community legal centre practitioners who represent child protection clients.
This project will generate new insights into the barriers and enablers to reunification of parents and children removed from parental care due to protective concerns. It aims to build understanding of current policy and practice issues relating to permanency and reunification in the Victorian child protection system.
This project has been funded by a Victorian Law Foundation Knowledge Grant.
