International Women's Day 2021

"This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is women in leadership toward an equal future in a COVID-19 world. Women’s leadership has never been more visible and visibly effective than in the last year. Women leaders have communicated clearly, empathetically, giving directives that encouraged a sense of belonging, motivating people to be part of collective efforts to prevent the spread of the virus.
However, women’s leadership is still not equally valued in all communities. Women make up just 24 percent of the positions on COVID-19 response national taskforces and committees. We need to change this. We need all the leadership capacity we can get given the global crises we face, and men and women can both lead on gender equality.
This year, though we are celebrating women’s leadership, I’d like to celebrate gender inclusive leadership that prioritises peace and security for all in a post-COVID-19 world."
Ahead of International Women's Day, we are celebrating some of the remarkable people who work and study with us.
