Buddhima Padmasiri is a PhD student attached to the Monash Gender, Peace and Security Centre. Her research examines the impact of global capital on rural, agrarian women, interrogating the notions of development, agricultural modernisation and the understanding of women's agency. Buddhima holds a BA special degree in International Relations from the University of Colombo and a Masters in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London. She is also an Attorney-at-Law in Sri Lanka. Buddhima is currently employed as a lecturer in the Department of Social Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the Open University of Sri Lanka.
