B1 CEFR I can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. I can understand the main point of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear. I can understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language. I can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters. I can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. I can enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events). I can connect phrases in a simple way in order to describe experiences and events, my dreams, hopes & ambitions. I can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. I can narrate a story or relate the plot of a book or film and describe my reactions. I can write straightforward connected text on topics, which are familiar, or of personal interest.
B1 Chinese Studies I am improving my listening ability to understand the main point of short dialogues and passages from the workbook on topics regularly encountered on the internet such as: gender roles, the Double Income No Kids (DINK) and single parent family, euthanasia and cultural differences. I am improving my ability to answer related questions.I am reading online texts on topics such as: gender role, DINK family, single parent family, euthanasia and cultural difference. I will be able to recognise an additional 400 Chinese characters by the end of the unit.I continue to improve my ability to interact through group discussions, class debate and class oral presentations. I can present a 6 minute dialogue with my partner on prepared topics. I can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans and will be required to demonstrate my ability during the final oral exam. I continue working on translation practice. I can write straightforward connected text on topics under study. I will be required to write a composition of 250 Chinese characters drawn from these topics in the final exam
B1- Chinese Studies I am working on my ability to understand the main points of short dialogues and passages from the workbook on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, shopping , family and school. I am trained to answer related questions. I can understand texts on work, shopping, family, school, lotteries and landmark buildings. I will be able to recognise more than 400 new Chinese characters by the end of the unit. I am improving my ability to interact through group discussions, class debate and class oral presentations. I am able to present a 6 minute dialogue with my partner on prepared topics. I am working on various oral techniques to connect phrases in a simple way in order to describe experiences and express point of view. I am required to make a 5 min presentation during the final oral exam. I am working on the translation of sentences using given words. I can write a simple summary of group discussion. I am required to write a 250 character essay on a textbook related topic.
